I recently started work on a very exciting and special project - our bebe-to-be's nursery! 2014 ended with the exciting news that we are expecting a sweet little one and we couldn't be happier. While my mind is definitely swimming with practical baby matters, I must admit that a large part of my daydreaming belongs to nursery planning.
We don't find out the nugget's gender until next month, but I already have a solid plan of action for the space whether we have a Samuel....
or an Elise!
See what I did there? I only changed out a few items for a different feel, more suited to a little gal. Very excited to get started!
PS- Kitchen renovation is set to be complete (fingers crossed) this week! And I went a totally different direction than I had planned :)

I don't consider myself to be a PDA-prone person, but on a day like today I will make an exception. Today is the Hubs and my 5 year anniversary. And while I realize in the grand scheme of things, 5 years isn't THAT long of a time to be married, I can't help but feel like this anniversary is a special one. A milestone, if you will. And while I know my very sweet Hubs will probably not like me calling such public attention to this date, I am still going to :)
5 years of marriage... how can it be? It some ways, our wedding day seems like yesterday.
And in other ways I can't believe more time hasn't passed, as it feels like we have packed SO much into life since our wedding day.
We have made a great life together. It's a fun life. One that I am proud of. One that keeps me on my toes. It's a life that makes me excited for the future and so thankful for our past. It's a life that makes me incredibly happy. And it's a life that I love living with you every day.
If the last 5 years are any indication of what the rest will be like - then I am one lucky girl. But of course I knew that already.
Love you, babe! And happy weekend to the rest of you!

Happy New Year! I hope your holiday season was a blessed and restful one. The hubs, Dais and I returned home yesterday after traveling for about two weeks. We were so lucky to be able to spend Christmas and New Years with friends and family in Dallas, and we also traveled to Guatemala for my sister's wedding. Our holiday were absolutely magical, and I'm definitely sad it is over.
But with the end of the holidays brings a new year. And I am one of those people who thinks it is important to take time at the beginning of the year to visualize what I would like the coming year to look like. And in the spirit of keeping myself accountable, I thought I would share my thoughts here.
Call them resolutions, goals or whatever you would like. Here is what I am striving for in 2014.
Grow my business
2013 was good, but I'm going to make 2014 great. I am so thankful for the support and clients I have received thus far, but there is always room for growth. To achieve the overarching resolution, I have outlined few individual goals/milestones to hit. Being specific and breaking things down into smaller steps will help me know how I'm progressing toward the overall goal.
Keep my exercise habit going
Maybe the most universal resolution in the history of new years resolutions? Perhaps. But my health is something I don't take lightly. In 2013, I did a pretty good job of exercising and eating right and I'm definitely looking to keep that going this year.
Start a book club
Reading is something that I truly enjoy. Since moving back to Tulsa, I've been wanting to get a group of gals together who feel the same way I do about books, I just haven't done it yet. The book club I was part of in Houston was so fun and I hope I can recreate that here.
Less TV time
I watch too much TV. More notably, I watch too much crappy TV. Cutting down on this bad habit will leave more time for other things - house projects, blogging, reading, etc. I can and will kick my TV habit this year.
Find a church we love
We've been trying out various churches around Tulsa over the past few months. This year, I hope we find our fit and get involved in a meaningful way.

Just a little round up of what's been on my mind this month! See my post last month explaining this series :)

Song: I'm sure you didn't forget that my blog is a no judgment zone? Because the song I have been totally loving this month is "Still Into You" by Paramore. The video isn't awesome, but the song is. The lyrics are just so sweet! And it's catchy... so ya. I'm into it.
Instagrammer: You all just need to follow Humans of New York - @humanofny. Essentially, it's just pictures of people who live in New York, with a short description that is usually super insightful/interesting/funny/sad/beautiful. I really love the idea behind this.
Blog: My best friend/sister - Kacey writes a lovely blog about her home and family life. Recently, she shared a post about her thoughts/cares/concerns/thankfulness during this time in her pregnancy. This post touched my heart SO much. Even though I'm not a mother and can't identify with her emotions, I still think it's a really good read. Oh, and her maternity pics are GORG.
Inspiring Designer: Barrie Benson. Nothing new here, but I have probably looked at this image 12 times over the last month. I just find it super amazing.
Blessing: I've been working with a wonderful friend on giving her house a little zhush up. It's a gorgeous home in one of my favorite Tulsa neighborhoods. And, she and her husband are just super awesome and easy to work with. Has been so much fun so far and a huge blessing. Can't wait to share more - but here is just a teeny snippet of what we have done so far.
"real" pictures to come...
Beauty Product: My girlfriend turned me on to One N' Only Argan oil - to me, it's the exact same as the pricier Moroccan oil.
Inspiring Quote: This just cracks me up!! But seriously....
Book: Okay, so last month I raved about the Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. And I am super sad to report that the movie was a HUGE let down. I don't know why I still get so upset when I hate the movies that are made on books I love - because it happens more often than not. They messed with the plot line and made it WAY too cheesy. But that doesn't mean I'm not eager to delve into the next book in the series......
movies < books.
Go-to outfit: This skirt has been the MVP of my wardrobe lately. Favorite way I've worn it is similar to this:
Accessory: When I was in Dallas a few weekends ago, my fabulous mother in law let me pilfer through her jewelry. And, because she is super generous, I walked away with these:
And I LOVE THEM! Vintage treasure.
Trips being planned: About this time every year, I get reeeeally excited for tailgate season. Notice I didn't say 'football season' because I'm not really into football games. I am, however, into tailgating, seeing college friends and spending time with my family in my hometown. Here is me and the Hubs during football season last year:
Hearts.
So that's a little bit about what has been on my mind this month! Thanks again to Paloma for inspiring this post!

Last week Paloma, one of my most favorite bloggers, wrote a post that I just really loved. Essentially, she compiled a list of things that she has been obsessing over during the month of July and shared them! And since imitation is the highest form of flattery, I've decided to do the same here. I'm going to make it a part of the "On My Mind" series - because these are the items that have been on my mind this month:
TV Shows: I know I am late to this party, but I LOVE Ducky Dynasty. It's just good, clean fun/hilariousness. Added bonus- it's one that C and I can actually agree on!
Song: Really loving "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke. Makes me want to groooooove. As does "Beautiful" by Mariah Carey. That lady has STILL got it going on.
Instagrammer: You just need follow @valerie_aya. A sampling:
Pinterest User: I really don't remember how I found this pinner, but I am super glad I did because I re-pin from her ALOT.
Blog: I am again late to the party, because I just started following Bryn Alexandra. Especially love that she has Oklahoma ties! But she also has really refined taste and is a very talented designer. I've loved seeing the progression of her own home. She chooses things very thoughtfully and takes her time in pulling rooms together. I respect that, as it is so easy to want to get it all done at once.
Inspiring Designer: I've followed Chicago designer Summer Thornton for a while, but a few months back this project was added to her portfolio. I'm still absolutely loving it.
Blessing: Pretty much every day, the Hubs and I talk about how
blessed we feel to be back in Tulsa. It's hard for us to put into words,
but we just feel better here. It brings an amazing sense of comfort
knowing how close so many loved ones are. While St. Louis was an
adventure--- we are glad to be back!
Bag: My incredibly generous sister in law came to visit a few weeks back and got herself a new bag while she was here. Soooooo she left her Speedy for me to borrow for a bit. I definitely don't hate it! Just so you don't get confused, this isn't a picture of me :)
Color: In my own home, I've been sticking to neutrals with pops of red, navy and green. So obviously, this picture makes me happy.
Inspiring Quote: Agree!
Drink: Moscow Mules are such a yummy, summery drink. And Valkyrie makes a darn good one. Tulsans- take note. Honorable mention- Cupcake's prosecco.
Book: Ok. As I've said before, the only place I have an addictive personality is books. For months, my bestie has been telling me to get started on the Mortal Instruments series. Well, I'm through the first one and all I have to say is woah. Suuuuuuuuper into it. Read. it.(even though I am slightly embarrassed by the cover.... it's awesome. promise!)
Triumph: Getting my business going has been really rewarding. Anytime I get an email in my business inbox- my heart jumps! I hope to not ever lose that feeling. It's fun.
Go-To Outfit: Not going to lie, this outfit has kind of been on repeat.......
Accessory: My fabulous friend from Houston happens to be a Stella and Dot stylist, and she was nice enough to send me the Jolie necklace. I have been reaching for it all the time! Outfit posts to come, but I do love it paired with hot pink:
Trips being planned: We are winding down summer wedding season, but are still looking forward to the last one of 2013- my sister's wedding in Guatemala in December! I went last May, but am excited to go back again for this event. I am already getting emo about the whole thing. This is the reception site. Gorgeous, right?
Thanks Paloma for dreaming up such a fun series! So tell me - what's been on your mind this month?

We had a fabulous holiday weekend in Santa Fe and it is haaaaaard to get back to reality this week. We were there for the wedding of some wonderful friends. Suffice to say, it was a gorgeous event:
IMHO, I had the cutest date there:
We also made time to do some turquoise purchasing:
And for pool-ing:
And for house ware shopping:
And of course, lots and lots of patio dining:
Like I said- hard to get back to reality! Good thing I have some FUN client projects starting this week! My creative juices are definitely flowing after such a great trip :)
Hope you all had a fabulous holiday as well!
5.13.2013
I've updated my pages (on the left) outlining my services and how to contact me. Can't wait to hear from you!
4.17.2013
We are officially 'moved'! The movers unloaded our truck on Saturday and since then we have been swimming in boxes. We've had so many wonderful people in our lives help us in some way with this move... So because of that we have been able to get a little bit done already and I wanted to share our progress here!
Formal living room progress:
Dining room progress:
Family room progress:
What is not pictured is the chaos that is happening elsewhere :) Literally, I think there are 4,285 things left I still have on our 'to-do' list. But so far, we are loving it! Love our house, love our neighborhood, love having friends and family close by!
Oh, and Dais loves it too, especially her yard :) Hope you all are having a great week!
4.08.2013
Well, Miss Flo is officially ours! We closed last week and are back in STL this week to coordinate the move. But come Friday we will be Tulsans once again. Living in Houston and St. Louis has been lots of fun and a great experience for us, but we are very ready to move HOME :)
I am also very ready to decorate this business:
Thanks for following along :) Tulsa or bust!!
3.25.2013
We found a house in Tulsa! A few weekends back, the Hubs and I had a whirlwind house-hunting experience (read: view about 12 houses, make a decision on one, did negotiations and got a contract... all in about 36 hours!) Since we are pretty familiar with the Tulsa market we knew which neighborhoods we wanted to focus on, so that made the job a lot easier. BUT, for a variety of reasons, this move has been so much more challenging than our last two. We've had to work through a variety of real estate issues with this one, so it was an AWESOME birthday present to receive last week to hear that we are good to go!
So........ here she is! I say 'she' because I already have a name picked out for her --- Miss Flo. I arrived at the conclusion that this is her name because she is a pretty little thing and she lives in an area called Florence Park. I think it fits her perfectly.
All photos via Zillow.
1- Cute little entryway. 2- formal living. 3- dining room. 4- master bedroom. 5- master bath. 6- downstairs guest bedroom. 7- family room. 8- backyard!! Dais is going to be THRILLED. Not pictured- the entire upstairs, the kitchen and the breakfast nook and the basement.
As you can imagine, my design wheels are already spinning :) And because decorating an entire home can be daunting and expensive, initially I am going to focus my efforts on the downstairs (formal living, dining, master, guest bedroom and family room). The kitchen we are going to live with for a few years, and then evaluate if we want to do a reno there. We'll see. We've become pretty non-commital with all of our moving around the past few years! The idea of living somewhere for more than 2 years is crazy! BUT super exciting at the same time. The good news- the current owners have great style! They've done a great job with a lot of the wall colors and finishes. Makes my job a lot easier up front!
I'll post my plans for each room eventually, but first we need to focus on closing. Keep your fingers crossed for us :) Counting down the days to April 4th!
Tulsa here we come!
