Sequin moment

9.12.2011

Oh, just back with another amazing thrift store find. STL is really coming through for me in the thrifting department! This weekend, I snagged this fab sequined dress. Yes, its from the 80s. Yes, it has shoulder pads. And yes, I love it. I think I will be so happy I have it once the holiday party season is here.

This weekend we laid pretty low, just doing some STL exploring and getting stuff done around the house. Tomorrow, I will share with you a really fun DIY project I did.

I hope you all had a great weekend, and took a moment to remember those that were lost 10 years ago, and also took a minute to thank God for the beautiful life we have! I know I did :)

Thankful Thursdays: Fall!

9.08.2011

There is nothing I love more than fall. I love the feel of it, the smell of it, everything! I am especially thankful for fall this year because of the horrendous heat wave that most of the country experienced all summer. But hallelujah- the weather in STL seems to be cooling down and I am more than ready to welcome a new season. To me, fall means scarves, snuggling, tailgates, cider, pumpkins, leaves falling, layers, Halloween... I could just really go on and on! It's my fav season for sure!

So in the fall spirit, here are some lovely fall-inspired images...

H&M Cape

9.06.2011

Well, I broke my shopping sabbatical. Oh well. This weekend my M.I.L/F.I.L (Mother/Father in Law) were in STL and we had such a good time! Cardinals game, Bailey's Chocolate Bar, Vin De Set and my M.I.L. wanted to go to H&M....Who am I to say no to that?

So while we were there, I picked up this lovely camel-colored cape. For $19.95, how could I not?? I first saw it on Anh from  9 to 5 chic (which is a great personal/work style blog), but I didn't expect to be able to find it at the STL H&M because that place is a mad house. So I was very pleased when it was there this past weekend.

It also comes in navy (love!)...

Here.

The temp in STL this morning is cool, so that means I will be able to bust this bad boy out very soon. Yay fall!!

Refinery29's fall essentials

9.02.2011

While perusing Refinery29 yesterday, I came across a slideshow for their 30 fall essentials. I was so happy to see that some things that I have been thinking about for fall made their list. So, with Labor Day being this weekend (aka the unofficial end of summer) we can all finally get serious about fall shopping.

I wanted to share some of their essentials with you that are my favs, and point you in the direction of some places you can get these pieces at great prices!

Chunky striped sweater- totally agree.

I found another option from Old Navy that I think is even cuter! And def. a better price.

Low booties- I haven't gotten these, BUT I did get some fabulous wedge booties that I posted about here, so I think they count.

Another option at a great price are these Blowfish booties- LOVE this color.

Next- the polka dot blouse.

Going back to Old Navy for this one. I like the sleeveless option, makes an easy transition back to warmer temps.

A trend that I find very interesting...  loafter heels. I like it because they are super profecional (made up word) for the work place.

This LC Lauren Conrad option is great- again, looove this color and a great price point if you don't want to fully commit.

The trench/cape... maybe my fav. trend for fall and one that can easily be worn in spring.

Loving this one from, where else? F21.

Red dresses. As I have posted about before, I love me some RED.

This dolman sleeve dress from Target might be the best find today...

See the whole Refinery29 slideshow here.

Unfortunately, I am on a shopping sabbatical until our Chicago trip. So I hope some of you partake in the fruits of my online shopping labor!

What trends are you excited to wear this fall? Any big plans for the Labor Day weekend??

Thankful Thursdays: NP

9.01.2011

Today, I am so very thankful for nail polish. It's a very small thing that brightens up my day in a not so small way. So judge if you'd like that I am dedicating a post to nail polish... but like I said before, it's the little things, people!

Essie Ballet Slippers and OPI You Don't Know Jacques are my all time faves. But recently, my lovely and very hip mother introduced me to a new favorite for fall, Essie Sand Tropez. It's the BEST neutral ever.

Find yours here.

And wouldn't you know it, homegirl Courtney from MED is a fan as well.

Here.

What are you thankful for today? It can be something as silly as nail polish...
