Miss Flo master bedroom: the plan

4.11.2013

Well, we are in the throws of moving craziness! The packers were here yesterday, and all of our belongings are being loaded onto the truck today. Even though this is the third time we've gone through this process, it still makes me quite anxious....

But that doesn't mean I've stopped plotting, planning and scheming about Miss Flo's decor. **Full disclosure? Since I put this post together, I may have changed my mind about a few things. My indecisiveness can be both a blessing and a burden. Blessing because it ensures I 100% know about every source option out there and have weighed them equally. Burden because I drive myself crazy doing so! i.e. staying up wayyyyyy too late the night before we move web searching for 'white ginger jar lamp' 'white urn lamp' 'white gourd lamp' 'white double gourd lamp' ......  ANY.WAY. The master bedroom in our new home isn't huge- and that's ok! This room has been a super fun challenge space planning wise- but we'll get more into that later. Here is a visual of a few design elements:

And the layout:

the before:

In words:

Layout: The picture above is taken from the room entrance. As you can see, the bed is pretty much in the center of the room. The door you can see on the far wall leads into the family room. In the layout plan I did above, you can see that I plan on placing our headboard on that wall. This means I will lose this door, and I am ok with that. Mostly because I prefer to have the bed be on the wall  you see right when you walk into the room- its the most visually pleasing. Also, losing that door will create more floor space and make this room more secluded (not a walk thru). SO, I am going to make a headboard like this one (OBSESSED) that will hang over the door.

Color scheme: Love the gray walls. Leaving those as is. We are going to use white linen on our headboard, and our bedding will be white with a blue scallop detail. This Robert Allen fabric is going to be a loooooong pillow that will lay across the bed, pretty much being the main pattern/detail in the room. And I'm using these nightstands with two white gourd lamps on them. I also found a great upholstered bench on CraigsList that is in the process of getting a facelift.

Can't wait to GET IN THE HOUSE and get started.
