Wingback update: Part 2

Hello hello and happy Wednesday! I am getting back into the swing of things after our ski vacation (which I will share some pics from later) and it is a tough process. BUT, while I was away, I realized I never shared the progress that has been made on the wingback. AKA the most drawn out re-do saga of life.

We finally ended up getting it reupholstered and it looks fab!


What do you think? I still need to paint the legs but I am loving the progress so far....

Thankful Thursdays- the mountains

Which is why I am so excited that this weekend, the Hubs and I are off on our annual ski trip to Keystone, Colorado. This trip is one of my favorite annual traditions- family, food, skiing, a little spa time... what could be better?

Well, the only thing that could make it slightly better is if I had this fab ensemble to take with me...

OMM: Patterned pants

Patterned pants have really been on my mind lately. Probably becuse there are so many inspiring options! Pattern on pattern. Yes. Floral. Yes. Dots. Yes. I'll take a pair of each please...

Book Review- Divergent

I can't believe I have only done 1 book review on the ole blog. That just seems weird because I am kind of an avid reader. It's pretty much one of my most favorite things.

Anyway! A while back, I read a book that I really enjoyed. I was coming down off of a high from re-reading the Hunger Games (in anticipation of the movie!!!!) and had been disappointed that I couldn't find something that I liked as much as the HG series.

Enter Divergent! (by Veronica Roth)

I really liked this book. It was one of those that I finished in 3 nights because I just HAD to see what happened next.

Synopsis: In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves… or it might destroy her.


If you liked the Hunger Games, I bet you will really like Divergent. It has the same 'what happens when our current civilisation ends' kind of thing. I also really like that the main character is a female, and a strong female at that. The reading level might even be younger than HG... but that doesn't really matter to me. It was a super easy read.

I am anxiously awaiting the sequel to Divergent, Insurgent, which comes out on May 1!

Judging from my Facebook newsfeed on Tuesday- lot's of lucky ladies received flowers from their loved ones on Valentine's Day. I personally love fresh flowers, and it was so sweet of my Hubby to send me some gorgeous red roses.

Here they are, right after delivery.


My Hubby knows me well enough that right when I walked in the door with them, he said "are you going to change them?" and of course the answer was yes.

Instead of keeping them in their current state, I personalized them a bit.


I cut them down, changed the vase out in favor of a colorful ginger jar and called it a day. Take that, ProFlowers!

Am I the only crazy person who can't leave well enough alone? Dish.

Words can not fully describe how much I love Pinterest. I mean.... how did we live without it?

I hopped on the Pinterest train pretty early and I have never looked back. The type A side of me LOVES being able to categorize/organize and the left side of my brain LOVES the beautiful images and creativity that Pinterest fosters. It's a beautiful combo, really.

Day of LOVE 2012

Instead of Christmas, we do Valentine's Day cards. It was a tradition started by my Momma that I am happy to carry on. I like to think it keeps the holiday spirit going year round :) Hope your Valentine's Day is full of love.... in all of it's forms.

I am so excited that Bianca from A Little White Mouse is taking part in the "5 Things I Love" series today. Bianca's blog is full of gorgeous images and every post makes you feel like you are flipping through a book of photography. But just as the images are gorgeous, even more gorgeous is the imagery... I just adore the way she writes! It is at once personal and very sincere. Be sure to check out her posts from the recent trip to Germany she took with her hubby, whom she affectionately refers to as "the engineer." :) I'm telling you, this couple could not be any cuter...

In my little corner of the internet called a little white mouse, I fill my posts with all those little "things" that make me smile and make my days. So, when Emily invited me to post on her lovely blog, I knew I had to get it juuuust right.

The result is five things that are both my staples and current loves. I hope they make you smile too.
1. MAC Sheer Supreme Lipstick in New Temptation


Every girl needs her perfect shade of red lipstick. This one is sheer and moist, but still packs a punch of color. The perfect red makes even the simplest outfit feel like something special.

2. iPod Touch and ToviCorrie on Etsy iPod Case


I know, I know, technically it is two things. But, as Frank Sinatra once sang, "You can't have one without the other." This pretty leather case is soft to the touch, hand made loveliness.

3. Decorate by Holly Becker (of Decor 8) and Joanna Copestick


You know those pretty books that you buy just to sit out in a pretty vignette? Yeah, this is not one of those. I can't stop flipping through these lovely inspiration filled pages.

4. Ray-Ban Sunnies


My newest pair of Ray-Ban sunnies. I never knew how much I would love my personal style be compared to that of John Lennon.

5. MAUI by MCMC Fragrances


I have found the scent my heart loveth. The company is based in Brooklyn, NY and smells like the beach in a bottle. Brilliant.

Thankful Thursdays: Target

I really don't think I can relate how much joy Target brings me. One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is go to the Target (alone, mind you), get a lovely coffee, and just spend as long as I want browsing the entire store. It's one of those things that you can't really explain why it feels so good- it just does!

Here.
I grew up in a town that doesn't have a Target.... just let that sink in for a minute. So I didn't really know what I was missing. But since graduating college, I have been a Target addict. And I'm not even mad about it.

Anyway! I decided to create a living room using items entirely from Target. It ended up being good looking and inexpensive. Loves it! I'm def. not recommending you get everything in your house from Target (because I think no home is complete without great antique finds/thrift store re-dos, etc)....but it can be done!


Here are the items available at Target now: Rug. Trunk. Love seats. Arm Chairs. Flowers. Chevron Pillows. Accent table. Floor lamp. Striped pillow.

PS- I just want to say a shout out to the gal who helps so many have an attitude of gratitude on Thursdays! Thanks Bex!
