High/Low: Old Navy

7.31.2012

Old Navy does a great job of offering popular higher-end looks for less. Here are a few I have noticed lately.

Everyone raves about Equipment blouses, and for good reason. But if you want the look of this Equipment sleeveless blouse for less, try this Old Navy option.

Love (everything) at J. Crew, and that includes this polka dot sweater. Old Navy offers one with a similar vibe.

These Loeffler Randall's have been all over the blogosphere. And they are SO adorable. But if you aren't ready to commit to the price tag, you could DIY a cap toe on this Old Navy pair.

Ok, I guess there is a slight polka dot theme here. So cute. SO into polka dots- always. There is an adorable J. Crew capri option or a similar Old Navy option.

Last one for today... A great striped tee (or 10) is an essential in any closet. I love the take J. Crew did on this one. ON did one in a similar colorway. Love the coral mixed with the black and white.

If you go for any of the lower end options and find you are are wearing it a ton, you can splurge for the the higher end one that will last longer. Smart shopping, people!

Hope you all are having a great week!

OMM: Maxi/flats

7.25.2012

Hello hello! Sooooo I haven't been posting a ton lately. Mostly bc we have been busy! My mom calls me a 'domestic gypsy' because we literally travel (domestically) almost every weekend. It was Boston two weekends ago, Tulsa last weekend and this weekend- Dallas! So, I haven't been doing many house projects and when we are at home during the week, we have to play catch-up on the not fun things :(

ANYWAY that was just a side note. Back to THIS post. A combo that has been On My Mind lately is the maxi with flats look. Don't know why, I've just been digging it.

I wore it this way the other day...

And I'm really digging how these ladies have worn this combo as well.

I'm back! We had such a fun vacation in Boston! Loved getting to spend time with my family, explore an awesome city and attend a super fun wedding. As always, its really hard to come home to 'real' life. But I collected alot of great memories this trip. Here are some of my favs:

First pic! Hellloooooo Boston!
Outfit day 1 - perfect for doing LOTS of walking.
I just loved this bunny gallery in the Lenox.
On the water.
Jonathan Adler store prettiness.
Boston Public Library.
Library courtyard.
Exploring Boston Commons.
View from the top of the Prudential Center.
Trip momento :)
Me and my hot date at the wedding reception.
Gotta love a white tent and twinkle lights.
This was a fun day. Brother, Mother, Sister, Sister Boyfriend, Hubby, Step Mom and Dad all sightseeing together!!
Another great walking around outfit. Note the map.
Lots of graveyards in Boston with lots of important people buried in them.
Getting artsy with it.

By the water.
Bunker Hill. And oh yes, we climbed to the top!
JFK Museum and Presidential Library.
The Hubs pondering.
Photography by CPD.
What happens when your plane is delayed 2 hrs.

All in all, it was a GREAT trip!!

Stayed: The Lenox and the Hilton Boston Downtown. Recommend both.
Ate (and ate and ate and ate): The ones that stood out are - Stephanie's on Newbury (had brunch there and was my fav meal of the trip), Atlantic Fish, La Familia Giorgio's (Italian in the North End is just as good as everyone says it is), Legal Seafood, MUST GET a Moscow Mule at Nix's Mate
Shopped: Newbury Street
Did: Duck Tour, Boston Public Library, Concord for a day, drinks at the top of the Prudential Center, Freedom Trail and the JFK Museum and Presidential Library

Closet MVP from this trip was definitely my $3 Coach backpack I found at a thrift store. Not quite a fanny, but close enough for me to love it.

If you want more details - just send me an email! I'd love to share.

5 Things I Love: DahliaLynn

7.12.2012

Today we have Jessica from DahliaLynn sharing her "5 Things I Love" with us. I discovered Jessica's blog a while back (thru SSE) and have been obsessed ever since. Her style inspires me continually.... take a look at this outfit, this one and this one. See what I mean?!? Super inspiring.

Also, she has recently started a series called "Love You" that asks bloggers to answer this one question:"Why do you love you?" Here is the one Jessica wrote, but I have really enjoyed reading the other bloggers' answers, its really uplifting! Anyway! Without further ado, here she is!

Hello Sweets!

My name is Jessica Reasons, and I write a little blog called DahliaLynn.  I was so excited when Emily asked me to take a look around my house, and share 5 of the things that I Iove in my home. So aside form my sweet husband and pups, which are permanent fixtures in the homestead, these are a few of my favorite things.
First off, my jewel collection.  I have shared a picture of two of my favorite J.Crew treasures both old and new.  I love statement pieces and jewelry with a vintage, bohemian vibe.  You know that old saying before you leave the house you should take one piece of jewelry off?  Yeah I don't understand that one.

Second, my new antique chandelier.  I have been dreaming of the day when I would have a home to fill with special light fixtures.  This one also created a special memory, as it took not just my husband, but brother and father to get that baby up there.

Third, my Penquin Classics book collection.  I let out a little shriek the first time I saw these ladies in Anthropologie.  I have been collecting them ever since.  Hopefully you are in on the secret that they sell on Amazon.com for much cheaper.

Fourth, my linen meets burlap necklace busts.  Did I mention that I make and selljewelry?  I have two separate lines.  DahliaLynn Handmade which is my line of pretties that I have designed and handmade, and DahliaLynn Vintage which is my line of vintage pretties that I have found and refurbished.  For so long, I just had necklaces lying all over the place, so finding these busts was a real treat because they are pretty and practical.

Five.....GOLDEN RINGS.  Just kidding, but I could not resist typing that.  Five, my slowly growing collection of all sequin dresses.  There is nothing exactly like throwing on an entire ensemble of sequins.  I mean, who doesn't want to look like a giant reflector meets disco ball.

So there you have them.  Five of the things in my home that I love.  I hope you have enjoyed this little glimpse into my world.  Happy Thursday!
Jessica

Seriously, girls like Jessica are what make me love the blog world! Thanks again for sharing, love!

In other news, tomorrow I am off to Boston! Going to unplug for a few days and get some good QT with the fam. See you later!

Carole Radziwill Style

7.11.2012

So its no secret that I love reality television, and the Real Housewives (of any city) is a must watch for me. Carole Radziwill from RHONY is my new fav. -- I love her attitude, outlook on life and her STYLE. Seriously, girl has got it going on. If you don't know about Carole, read up on her here. Super interesting woman. Princess? Check. Outstanding journalism career? Check. Bestselling author? Check. GREAT HAIR? Check. What's not to love?

Let's look at some of her fab fashion choices.

Did I mention she is 48? OWN. IT. She looks amazing.

I just love her look- super downtown, cool girl which definitely sets her apart from the rest of the RHONY cast.

And see below- love the letterman jacket!!

She loves her animal print- girl after my own heart! I wish I could find a pic of this whole outfit- super skinnies and booties- she is just the cutest!

Just a few more.

And I'll leave you with this one. Hottie.

1. 2. 34. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.10.

I am also reading Carole's book "What Remains." She is just as great a writer as she is dresser. I'm already looking forward to her next one. AND she has officially been added to my list of style icons.

Do you agree?
