Amie Corley Interiors

4.30.2012

Amie Corley is a St. Louis designer whose work has been featured in Southern Living, Cottages and Bungalows, St. Louis At Home and Elle Decor. It won't be long until Amie is known nationally because, for lack of a better word, her work ROCKS. I've actually had the pleasure of meeting Amie and I can tell you that she is as awesome as the interiors she creates. This girl is NOT afraid of color and pattern.

Here are two of her most 'pinned' rooms. Her living room:

And her family room:

But the rest of Amie's home is just as fabulous, so I wanted to share it here. She has updated a bit since these were taken, but I think they are worth sharing regardless. This chaise belonged to her grandmother and she reimagined it using Brunschwig’s Les Touches. Paired with Neisha Crosland’s Birdtree paper, so fearless!

I love that Amie brings a sense of whimsy to her work-- see the rubber duck? Totally makes you smile.

Loving the RED in her office space!

Here is her son's room as it was seen in the Cottages and Bungalows spread. Took this with my iphone - sorry! Just too cute not to share. This room is also featured in the current issue of Southern Living.

And her dining room.

Told you Amie is fab!

I'll leave you with one last pic from a project she recently completed. You can see more of this home here.

Don't you love it?? Can't wait to see what's next for her!

Inspired to Incorporated: 6

4.27.2012

Meredith Melling Burke of Vogue inspired this 70s-esque outfit. Now if I could just 'incorporate' her height into my life.... and her job. And the rest of her closet. ANYWAY.
Inspiration.
As I was flipping clicking through the Spring 2012 edition of Trad Home, I came across this lovely combo of blue/yellow in a room design by Grant K. Gibson, and I was inspired to add a small dose of the same into my home.
Inspiration.

This top I am wearing is actually a backward cardi, but hey, it works for the look I was going for.
Inspiration.
Hope you all are having a great day and Happy (almost) Weekend!

Thankful Thursdays: Quotes

4.26.2012

"I quote others only in order to better to express myself" -- Michel De Montaigne

I love a good quote. They make you feel like someone out there gets you, understands what you are feeling and can put that feeling into better words for you than you could for yourself. I really hope one day to be a quoted individual.... but until then, here are some of my favorite quotes, all courtesy of my Pinterest "Tell me what you know" board.

What are you thankful for today?

PS- I linked up with Bex today. Head on over to see what other bloggers have been loving lately.

OMM: DIY Wall Embellishments

4.25.2012

While I love wallpaper, I have resigned myself to the fact that I will not have it until we are in a house that we plan on living in for more than 2 years (aka not the Chouse, fingers crossed, sorry I'm not sorry STL). BUT, that doesn't mean I should have to live with boring walls, am I right?

Fortunately, I have come across amazing DIY wall embellishing options around the blogosphere/pinterest. Here are a few of my favs.

The Aestate created these chevron-esque stripes with good ole painters tape and PAINT PENS. Yes, I said paint pens. Turned out fab.

This amazing wall was created using paint pens as well. Maybe I need to hop on the paint pen train because GEEZ.

                                                                                 Here.

In her previous home, Jenny from Little Green Notebook created this wall covering for her entry with masking tape.... again, I said MASKING TAPE. Just crazy. The creativity is out of this world.

Here.
And then of course, there is the stenciling option.

Or I could just straight up go to down with the black paint. Something tells me the Hubs might say a big fat NO to this option.

But let's be real, I probably shouldn't take on another wall project until I finish the powder room... whatevs.

Louis Chair Update

4.23.2012

Well, I have been hard at work on the Louis chairs. "Hard at work" meaning they sat around for over a month while I decided which route I wanted to go when re-doing them.... BUT I finally decided that I wanted to go with a patterned fabric (this fabric to be exact)  and paint them a really dark (close to black) brown.

So two weekends ago, I pulled the fabric/staples off and primed them. Not lying when I say my hands were sore for about 3 days afterward. Pulling staples is not for the faint of heart! Then, they sat for another week. And this last weekend, I painted them and started to put the new fabric on. I am following Jenny's post as closely as possible, so I'm not going to do a full on 'how-to'. But she is right, every upholstery project is different, and it definitely takes some thinking outside the box.

ANYWAY. Here they are so far. I still have a bunch of stapling to do, but this is their current state.

(As you can see, the tape is still with us)
And here they are in the living room.

The last step will just be sewing/adding the cording. Wish me (and my sewing machine luck!)

Zara heels

4.20.2012

I sometimes have a hard time with shoes. I don't know why, but I am super picky and never really buy any 'fun' shoes. My closet is full of boring, super basic black heels/flats. But when I saw these pretties, I knew I had to have them. Now, I didn't completely branch out and get the colored options, but I think its a step (ha!) in the right direction.

And from the looks of the blogosphere, I'm not the only one who is a fan...

Inspired to Incorporated: 5

4.18.2012

Hello hello and happy hump day everyone! Here we go with another round of Inspired to Incorporated. AKA what I find on the internet and copy. Judge if you must, but I really suggest you follow suit.

Anyone else been slightly tired of the top knot lately? That may be just me bc I wear one ALL the time. So I switched it up the other day and did a messy low bun similar to Sienna's.
Inspiration.

I found Sarah's blog, Workday.Weekend. when we were both featured on Look Linger Love's "Mixed Prints: How They're Wearing It" Challenge, and I have been loving her blog ever since. A super fun outfit she wore recently inspired an outfit of mine.... It was so comfy I felt like I was wearing pajamas!
The photo of me is proof that people should just SMILE in pics. Will def do this next time. PS- should I grow my bangs out?
And this pic was just great inspiration for a super comfy outfit when the STL weather gave us a cold snap last week.
Inspiration.
What have you found thats inspired you lately? I think the Hubs would prefer if instead of outfit/home inspiration, I would find cooking inspiration. Working on that........

Be sure to hop on over to KLAW to check out my fav trends for this season!

Have a great day!

OMM: Cambridge Satchel

4.16.2012

I have been eyeing the Cambridge Satchel for a while. It just seems like a really great every day bag, especially for me because I feel like I'm always schlepping something and need a big bag. The neon pink originally caught my eye, but I think I would love a red one for a long, long time to come. The best part? They can be embossed with my inititals (this girl is a sucker for a good monogram)
Here.

So, which do you prefer? Pink or red? Also, I saw this pic on Paloma's blog last week. While if I had my choice, I would def pick the classic Chanel 2.55. But the description of the Cambridge matches me much more closely. As does the price :)

Here are some pics of other ladies who love the Cambridge.
