Loving CraigsList

One thing we have never had in our house is a TV console. Every house we have lived in so far has had a mantle which we put the TV on. But in the Chouse no such thing exists. So for the past month or so, I have been on the hunt for the perfect piece of furniture. I knew I wanted something light because it was starting to feel a bit dark in the living room. My friend in Houston, Hallie, has an AWESOME console....

I wanted to find something similar (white, gold hardware, lots of storage), so I started scouring antique shops, the Salvation Army and Craigslist.

Craigslist came through! I found these little gems: (unfortunately, the Betty Boop doll was not included in the deal)

What caught my eye most was the rattan style legs and hardware.

And at $35 per piece, they were a steal! In the listing, it said they needed a new coat of paint which was totally fine with me.

Mid-paint (note Daisy, 'supervising'). Since we no longer have a garage, all DIY-related things have to be done in the house. This requires no-VOC paint/primer, floor covering and lots of vacuuming.

And here is the after!

They totally work! I might add some trim detail later... but we will see. I will do a post on the layout of the living room later, but as you can see the TV sits in front of a pair of doors. In order to make this room work we decided to lose the functionality of the doors and I am so glad we did. But more on that later.

Now, I am off to prepare for our first visitor to STL! My Momma gets here tomorrow and I am VERY excited!!

xoxo, Emily

  1. I'm not even kidding when I tell you that I've been thinking about writing a Craigslist post! I mean, it's the best. I've been selling/buying like crazy lately. I've got my eye on a buffet that I hope Matt will give me the ok to purchase b/c we desperately are in need of a TV stand upgrade! Love how yours turned out!!! Nice work. :)

Love hearing from you! Thanks for commenting :)
